First Time Trail Riding

“It never gets easier, you just go faster”

Greg LeMond

Biking has always been a part of me. My earliest memory of the two wheeled human powered machine was when I’m about four or five years old. Since then I never stopped. Well, there are some years when I didn’t have a bike but it never left my mind.

Yesterday I was given a chance to ride again on the mountains. This time it wasn’t just on paved and dirt mountain baranggay roads. I get to actually ride on rocky, muddy foot paths, downhill trails. And at times there wasn’t even a pathway to follow at all. It was pretty scary but a lot of fun.

This was my first stop to catch a breath and when I turned around I was shocked that I could already see the ocean on the background.
The start of the ride was immediately a very steep climb. We had to get off the saddle once it gets tougher to pedal.
Had to stop just to admire the breathtaking view. And the goat too!
First view on the other side of the mountain and the start of a seemingly endless, scary and fun descent…
And the trail ends here. Temporarily, of course.
Back on track! The mud is starting to stick on the bike.
Some wild life.
The mud is already messing up my drivetrain.
We were nearing at the end of our ride and stopped for some water to drink. The bikes had theirs too.
